Snapshot of Internship: 

Areas of assignment can be singular or rotating depending on the preference if the intern and need of the Sheriff’s Office. Identified locations are Detention (must be 18 years of age), Support (will focus on processes and documents), and Community Outreach. In each of these disciplines there will be opportunities for ride-along assignments within the duration of the allotted time, however, there is not an assignment specific to the Patrol function.

2. Complete background application which can be found on the website above. The application opens twice a year: The Fall internship application opens in Spring. The Spring internship opens late summer – early Fall.  Our process also includes fingerprinting and a background clearance.

Snapshot of Internship: 

As an intern with the Glendale Police Department, students have an opportunity to work side by side with our civilian employees, police officers, detention officers and detectives.  

Students will be introduced and trained on the operating systems that we use to run public reports, body cam, booking and out processing in Detention, manage property and evidence inventory, observe recorded interviews and jail calls.  

Those selected for our Forensic laboratory will be exposed to the current cases and gain hands-on experience in latent prints and evidence collection.  

Students will also have various department tours within out agency to meet and learn about other areas outside of their assigned departments. 

We also provide classroom training throughout the internship where we provide teachings on Police Culture and Ethics, Intergenerational Workplace, Forensic Seminar, Application training and Mock Oral Board training.
