Spohn presents sentencing research in Russia
Cassia Spohn, director of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, recently traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia.
She was an invited guest of the Institute for the Rule of Law at the European University at St. Petersburg. While there she gave a lecture describing her recent work on sentencing to doctoral students with the Institute. She also gave a public lecture on “Racial Disparity in Sentencing: Five Waves of Research.”
Spohn is one of the most cited female scholars in American criminology and criminal justice journals, and is one of the nation’s foremost experts on criminal sentencing. She joined ASU in 2006 and was named director of the School earlier this year.
