Public Safety in Developing Nations

PSI studies public-safety challenges in developing nations, with a particular focus on the Caribbean. Our work examines how local institutions, public-safety agencies, governments, and communities respond to crime, violence, and other challenges in settings where research and evaluation capacity may be limited.

PSI works with local agencies, governments, scholars, and other partners to conduct research that is both rigorous and practically useful. This work spans a range of public-safety issues and includes recent research involving crimes against women in India and the experiences of prison officers in Trinidad.
