Biography:

Olivia Shaw is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Arizona State University. Olivia received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona, with an emphasis in Criminology. She went on to pursue her Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a certificate in Crime Analytics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her research interests broadly encompass corrections and re-entry, with a specific focus on rehabilitation efforts, the role of punishment, and the disparities shaped by gender and race. By examining these areas, she aims to gain a deeper understanding of how systemic inequalities within the correctional system impact both rehabilitation outcomes and re-entry processes, ultimately contributing to more equitable and effective criminal justice policies. Olivia has work that has been published in the Journal of Experimental Criminology, Journal of Ethnicity in Criminal Justice, and Crime and Delinquency.
