Mark Searle, professor in the School of Community Resources and Development, has been named deputy provost and chief of staff in the Office of the Provost.

"Mark brings an incredible tool kit of experience back to the provost office,” said Robert Page, university provost. “He is widely respected because of his knowledge, fairness and consistency in the execution of his duties."

“ASU has achieved much in this new millennium, and this new position will be a great opportunity to contribute to that continuing achievement,” said Searle. “I look forward to working collaboratively with Provost Page and all those with whom I engage in our work together.”

Searle came to ASU's West campus in 1995, where he served as the founding dean of the College of Human Services until 2002. He began his work at ASU after an extensive career in Canada, where he was the founding director of the multidisciplinary Health Leisure and Human Performance Research Institute and head of an academic program in Recreation Studies at the University of Manitoba.
