School of Criminology and Criminal Justice "Giving Tree" A Success
ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY News Release: December 22, 2011
This Christmas season five families sponsored by Chicanos Por La Causa celebrated with gifts and warmth, thanks to the donations of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice’s faculty, staff and students. The “CCJ Giving Tree” is an annual event.
The school decorated a tree with ornaments representing a child and his or her wish list. Alpha Phi Sigma, the criminal justice honor society, collected gifts separately for one family. For two weeks, other participants chose ornaments off the tree.
By Dec. 19, the tree was free of ornaments and 19 children’s wish lists were completed. Representatives from Chicanos picked up donations Dec. 20.
“The thank you truly goes to you and your team for all of the work, coordination, organization, kindness, giving, and joy that you provided to some of the families that we serve,” said Heather Jacobs, program director for Chicanos Por La Causa.
The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice is active in community involvement and recently donated food and gift cards to the shelter for Thanksgiving.
